My trip to France and Italy recently has taught me much about myself and loving unconditionally. As I observed my past relationships with others, I have noticed that we unconsciously place conditions on others in our lives. What can they do for me? How can they help me in my life? What do they have to offer me? How can they improve my life?
Some of these conditions are so unconscious that we would even deny that we are doing this. We call what we do love, friendships, family and relationships. We justify this by saying that if you are my friend, lover, family then you must do these things for me. This is, in fact, attachment or dependency. Love is given unconditionally with no strings attached.
I want to distinguish between conditions on love and agreements between people. When two people enter a relationships such as marriage where both agree on a monogamous relationship with each other, but one partner breaches this agreement to have an affair with another. This is a breach of trust. This would include any agreements between people, since we are only as good as our word.
As I met strangers during my trip, I felt deep love within for them. They were from all over the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, Philippines, Japan, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Italy, France, and United States. It was a genuine acceptance of who they are. I finally have found love within for myself that I can share with others.
It is a true blessing and a long journey through many lifetimes to find this place in my heart. I have finally found compassion for myself, so I can have this compassion for others. I am truly blessed, Brooke (Copyright 2013 Kundalini Spirit with All Rights Reserved)
