Forgiveness in the Face of Adversity

Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them. ~ Bruce Lee

We are given life lessons throughout our lives and during our spiritual journey, we have awareness of these lessons.  Recently, I was informed by my doctor that I tested positive for a virus that causes cancer, and there is no cure.  The good news is that I currently do not have cancer, but must be monitored as cancer is still a possibility in the future.  I may have contracted this virus from a former partner.

In the past, I would have felt anger about my situation, and felt betrayal from the person I loved.  Now, I only feel sadness as my ego no longer feels resentment and hurt.  This sadness is for this change to my personal health and well being.  However, I will not allow fear of betrayal to affect my intimacy with another.  Even in the face of this new adversity, I will forgive him and myself for what has happened.

I have recently gone through the stages of forgiveness.  The first stage is taking responsibility for my part of the situation, and acknowledging what I have done wrong. The second stage is overcoming the feelings of shame or embarrassment for my involvement in the situation. The third is sadness for the loss involved or cause of hurt.  The final stage is acceptance of what has happened.  Once we go through these stages, we will have forgiven ourselves and others.

When we experience these stages, we will finally let go of our hurt, and find peace within our lives. Healing light, Brooke (Copyright 2013 Kundalini Spirit with All Rights Reserved)

  1. Brooke you are truly amazing and beautiful inside and outside, your courage gives me so much strenght and is helping me to look deeper within my own heart to forgive. One thing I know for sure our Loving Father in Heaven loves us and treasures us more and more every day. Please remember that you are the one that is in complete control of your life and forgiving all the people that have hurt you has made you even stronger. At the end of the day the only emotion I feel in my heart is Love and it is the greatest emotion there is. Love and Angel Blessings Edel Marie
