Learning Our Lessons through Grace and Acceptance

When we learn our life lessons, how do we know we are done?  This has been my question to myself since I started down this road of moving to a town that I know no one, and taking a job at a college here.  I question what is my purpose here, and what am I here to learn? The lessons that I learned here have been difficult, but I believe that I needed to learn these lessons for my life. Here, I engaged in a relationship with a man whose dynamic mirrored that of my parents in that he continued to engage emotionally and romantically with another woman when he was involved with me.  I took a job with a supervisor who reminds me of my mother in that she is emotionally erratic and unstable.

What I learned from my experiences here with these individuals are that I deserve so much better than how they have treated me.   I learned that I am strong enough to break away from them, and that the way they have treated me is hurtful.  Many times during our lessons, we are matched with people who have similar traits to our parents, and in interacting with them, we learn how we must stand up for ourselves, and demand to be treated with respect and honor, particularly if we have been abused or mistreated during our childhoods.

Neither of them have treated me with much respect or honor.  In the past, I would have blamed myself for this mistreatment that I was somehow responsible for the unhappiness of these individuals.  Now, I know better that they are discontented people with themselves and their own lives.  Now, I am holding them responsible for their behaviors, as I now take responsibility for mine.  Finally,  I learned my lessons through grace and acceptance, Brooke (Copyright 2013 Kundalini Spirit with All Rights Reserved)
