During the practice of my emotional release work on my spiritual journey, I have come to awareness that the people in our current lives frequently serve as messengers or teachers for our life lessons. Â It is the awareness of these messengers or teachers that can help us navigate our way on our spiritual journeys. Â The interesting thing is that these messengers may feel incredibly familiar to us; sometimes those feelings are of great affection, and other times they are of fear. Â They also may remind us of someone very close and intimate to us such as a family member. Â Take stock in these feelings of your experiences about these people since they are important figures in our lives for our life lessons.
These messengers in our lives will feel the same familiarity, and the same attachments to us. Â The difference is that the messenger can see more clearly that they are serving the purpose of a messenger for us, and may have more clarity about their role in your lives. Â However, because they feel the same familiarity and attachment, they may feel this incredible emotional pull that is hard to let go. Because they serve the purpose of emotional growth for us, it is we who must outgrow them. Â Our messengers cannot do the work for us, although many may try to rescue us, but it is our responsibility to do our emotional work to outgrow them.
This dynamic between our messengers and us is an interesting one. Â As in my situation, the job of my messenger was to teach me to learn to let go of my past by letting him go. This lesson took two and a half years for me to learn, but once the lesson is learned we outgrow our messengers and move onto our next life lesson. Â We will know when we have completed our life lesson with this messenger when we no longer feel the emotional pull towards them, and the attachment to them has fallen away.
