Karma does not Discriminate

I recently watched a documentary on the construction of the Forbidden City in Beijing, China, and the emperor who built it.  The history of its construction and the Ming Emperor who built this palace was quite nefarious, and it is a lesson in karma. This story began when Zhu-Di, a man who was not a descent to the throne of emperor of China, overthrew by force the existing emperor and also his nephew. Emperors were believed by the Chinese people to be deemed by the Divine and not through conquest. Zhu-Di Emperor was a depot who ruled his kingdom through fear, bribery, and cruelty for 22 years.

Throughout his rule, he was constantly paranoid that his nephew and the former emperor who escaped his assassination attempt, would return to kill him. As part of proving his Divine power, he built the Forbidden City in Beijing as a tribute to the heavens, but only the imperial family and their unik servants were permitted to enter the palace.  During the 14 year construction of his palace, slaves were used for its construction, and Zhu-Di Emperor used all the funds in the Chinese treasury for his construction.

Starvation and poverty became rampant throughout China during  Zhu-Di Emperor’s reign as he used farmers and people of China for his construction without compensation.  Economically and politically, China was in trouble.  Zhu-Di Emperor’s prophet warned him of the destruction of his palace and his empire if he did not cease his actions, but instead he arrested the prophet for his warnings.

One evening three years after the completion of this palace, a terrible lightening storm struck and destroyed three of the four main halls of the palace through fire.  Zhu-Di Emperor believed this destruction to be a sign from the Divine, who then took his own life by hanging himself.  The Universal Law of Karma does not only apply to regular people like us, but also to emperors, kings, and leaders.  The very things our ego desires and pursues will be taken from us.  What we reap, we sow, since karma has no deadline and does not discriminate!  (Copyright 2015 Awakening Journey with All Rights Reserved)
