Learning Through Self Awareness

I finally reached a place on my spiritual journey that I am able learn through self awareness.  This is the ability to observed our events and interactions in our environment and apply those observations to ourselves.  When we speak, advise, or help others, it is truly our higher self teaching us something about ourselves.

I earlier wrote an article on psychological projections called, the Purpose of Projections.  Psychological projection, also known as blame shifting, is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unpleasant impulses by denying their existence while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude. (Wikipedia definition)

Frequently, when we observe a unpleasant characteristic trait, behavior, or action, it is something projected onto others that exists within us.  When we are aware of this defense mechanism, we can apply the advice we provide to others, instead to ourselves.  In other words, whenever we make a statement or have a thought about a person, situation, behavior, or action we see external to us, we ask ourselves, “how does this apply to me?”

This has been the most powerful learning tool to change my own behaviors and life without a therapist, counselor, or adviser.  It is my own empowerment and ability to change my life for the better.  My higher self becomes my compass, adviser, and guide on my path forward without relying on others who are human with egos and may be misguided and motivated by self gain.  This is true inner power and empowerment to guide ourselves on our journey toward spiritual growth and emotional healing.  (Copyright 2016 Awakening Journey with All Rights Reserved)
