Lessons in Letting Go

Before we can move forward to something new, we must be willing to let go of the old and our past.  This is not my opinion, but it is a fact.  I did not truly believe this as I tried to hang onto past feelings, memories, and attachments. I tried hanging onto people, places, and situations.  I wanted things to remain the same as I moved forward, but this simply is not possible.

The purpose of growth is to move beyond our current existence.  When we move forward, we outgrow our past as we are no longer the same person. We begin to vibrate at a higher frequency, and those who no longer vibrate at our current frequency, no longer attract us. It is simply the law of physics. This can feel like a great loss for many of us as we move forward onto new experiences and new vibrations.

This phenomenon is quite extraordinary as moving forward is done through intention, purpose, and action.  In other words, we say to ourselves, I no longer want to suffer, I no longer want to be mistreated, and I no longer want this hurtful life.  Then, we follow through with our actions, and stay the course through our purpose.  Never stop moving forward, no matter how slow we may perceive our movements.

As I proceed on my journey forward, I look behind me.  It is not to return to my past, but only to see how far I have come.  I have not forgotten the mistreatment, pain, or suffering of my past so that I never repeat them again.  Now, I make better and different choices for myself that is based in self love and worth.  I realize now that I am worthy of love, deserve to be treated with respect, and can live a good, happy, and healthy life.
