Until my Kundalini awakening, I was not fully aware of the internal dialogue within us. This internal dialogue determines our state of mind and our moods. Why do so many people appear consistently agitated, angry, and distressed? It is because they may not be aware of this internal dialogue that is going on in their minds.
Each person, situation, or event we encounter can alter or change our internal dialogue. If we already have many emotional wounds and self loathing these encounters can cause our internal dialogue to spiral our state of mind into a dark place, and cause depression or extreme distress.
This is why we blame others or situations for our bad moods or feelings. We believe that this darkness, depression, or distress result outside of us. However, it already exist within us as we already are causing this within ourselves. What about external harms done to us such as violence, assault, robbery, burglary?
Healthy people have better coping skills who can deal with life’s difficulties in healthier way. Healthy people see the world not as death and destruction, but that bad things happen but things will change and we will overcome difficulties. Unhealthy people already have emotional wounds and self loathing who struggle to deal with life’s difficulties because they already are dealing consistently with negative internal dialogues. They then must cope with additional stressors from life’s difficulties causing depression or extreme distress, and many use drugs, alcohol, and other addictions to cope.
It is important to become emotionally healthy by healing our emotional wounds. I have used Emotional Release Practice, art, dance, and music therapies, journaling/blogging, walking in nature, meditation, yoga, Reiki, body and energy work, and exercise. You can find many modalities of healing, and there is no one “right” way to heal.
In the meantime, it is critical to be fully aware of the internal dialogue to make sure we replace negative thoughts about ourselves with positive ones. For example, if we don’t feel good enough about ourselves, we replace those negative thoughts with self love and positive ones. Some examples of mantras/positive thoughts may include: I am good enough, I love me, I deserve to be treated with respected, I am worthy of love, and I love me even if no one else does.
We can actively change our negative thoughts and self loathing. As we feel better and better since we also are healing our emotional wounds, the world will no longer be such a dark and destructive place. We begin to believe bad things that happen to us will pass and good things will come our way again. We also begin to be more and more thankful and grateful for the good things in our lives and in our world. In this way, you will find peace and joy every day, and your external world will then follow. (Copyright 2016 Awakening Journey with All Rights Reserved)
