Letting Go of Toxic People through Forgiveness

Spirituality does not mean to be positive all the time. To be awakened is to be mindful and aware of your life and your current existence.  Although I have forgiven many people who hurt and wounded me, it does not mean that they are accepted back into my life.  These people were toxic, mentally or emotionally ill, narcissistic, and even sociopathic in their behaviors.  They are not welcome in my life.

For most of my life, I was emotionally traumatized as a result of childhood abuse, and sexual and physical assaults and emotional mistreatment as an adult.  I attracted some pretty toxic and ill people into my life.  As I healed myself emotionally, I removed these people from my life and one way I did this was through forgiveness.

Forgiveness does not mean we invite toxic and emotionally ill people back into our lives.  As we forgive others, we remove all the people and situations that no longer serve our higher path.  It is for the purpose of emotional healing to forgive and let these people go.  It is a way to remove them permanently from our lives.

Recently after letting go of two people who cheated, lied, mistreated, and abused me, I will never forget what they did to me as those were my life lessons.  Now, I recognize the signs of toxic, chaotic, and dysfunctional behaviors.  When I encounter these kinds of people, I wish them well, but they are not welcome to be part of my life.  (Copyright 2016 Awakening Journey with All Rights Reserved)
