Signs of Emotional Recovery

Along the road of emotional recovery, a sign of emotional growth is our willingness to accept our part of the responsibility in any situation, and accept or forgive others for their part.  Whenever we have a conflict with others, the reality is that the truth of what really happened falls somewhere in between the two positions. Serving as a mediator in my job for a long time has shown this to be true.

Our egos want to be right and be vindicated when we perceive a wrong has been committed against us.  No matter how egregiously we believe that we have been mistreated, the reality is that the truth is somewhere in the middle, within a gray area.   When we begin to release ego, we begin to see this reality before us.  With my recent ego release work, it has been easier and easier for me to admit my own shortcomings, admit to others that I am human and flawed, and that I will try to do better in the future.  I apologize for my mistakes and ask for forgiveness.  Even if forgiveness is not granted, I still try to move forward peacefully and change my future behaviors.

After the event in conflict, I reflect upon what others have said to me and take what they say to heart without becoming defensive or denying what I did in the situation.  Maybe what they said about me has validity? Maybe they are trying to help me become a better person?  Maybe I should take a second look and heed their suggestions?  Upon these reflections, I begin to work toward that change.  This is how we grow and recover.  Since every person we encounter is our teacher, then only through hearing their words can we learn the lessons they are intended to teach us.

I want to live in peace, through love, forgiveness, and compassion.  Although I wish to achieve this with others, however, even without their participation, I still can reach this peace within myself. May you find peace within, Brooke (Copyright 2013 Kundalin Spirit with All Rights Reserved)
