What I have experienced during my emotional healing work is that pain is stored like sedimentary rock layers similar to the earth’s geology. The pain above is more recent then the below, and so on. Each layer of pain that is repressed and not released is stored in these layers one on top of each other making up the emotional painbody.
I have come to realize the layer effect of this pain; as I release a layer, there are more layers beneath it. As we release each layer of emotional pain, we are lighter and allow more light into our souls. At the center of these layers exist our soul that is pure and unburdened by the layers of pain around it. This realization can be daunting, but in accepting this realization, we begin to understand why we experience pain from our past many times and that we just don’t release it once then it’s all gone.
The more years of repressed pain and denial, the more layers of pain to uncover. As I have many years of repressed pain that I am releasing, I find that these layers are quite thick and compacted from many years of repression and denial. I am quite amazed at how our psyches are able to delude us into believing the lies that we must feed ourselves as the truth may be too hard to accept. We live in a world of delusions created by our own minds, and we convince ourselves and others every day of our delusions. When we awaken, however, these delusions are harder and harder to reconcile.
