Ego’s Greed

bl-6

I am visiting a good friend for the Memorial Day weekend.  During my visit, she wanted to have dinner and go to a casino. I have never been to a casino before so I agree to go, since I am willing to try anything once.  After a delicious dinner, we tried gambling at the slot machines.  As I have never tried gambling, I never played a slot machine before. I watched her the few times as she played the slot machine while she won over a hundred dollars.  Then it was my turn, I put in $15 into the machine then lost all my money.

After my turn at the slot machine, I asked her what was the fun in all this as I simply did not understand the purpose.  She explained that she gets a thrill from the chance of winning money each time she plays the slot machines or gambles.  I thanked her for the experience and told her that this game of chance is not for me, as I simply don’t get it.  Making money from chance doesn’t get me excited or even thrill me.

Afterwards, I wonder why I am having this reaction to gambling, and have come to this theory. When we work to release ego, we may lose ego’s greed as well.  The basis for gambling is to entice the emotion of greed within us. In gambling, the casino counts on our greed to continue playing in the hopes of making easy money from a game of chance.

If we don’t have greed, we simply would not gamble that is what may have happened to me.  I just don’t care if I win or lose, and making easy money from a game of chance made no difference to me.  I find gambling silly as it does not provide any form of entertainment, and I simply do not care about winning.  When we work to release our egos, we may lose the emotions generated by ego such as greed.  Blessings of light, Brooke (Copyright 2014 Kundalini Spirit with All Rights Reserved)

  2. I think it’s great that you did not fall prey to the greed of ego, or that of the casino. They prey on the weak minded people, which, sadly makes up a majority of the population here in the United States. Great article! I don’t comment much here, but I have been reading your blog for about a year and love it. Namaste.
