PATHWAY TO JOY AND HEALING

During this recent period, I have begun to understand my dreams.  In the past, I thought my dreams were visions of my past or future.  However, my visions of past or future events come while I am awake and I also hear voices about past or future events in my head.

To understand our mind’s constructs, it is important to under the three parts of the psychic model.  Id, ego, and super-ego are the three parts of the psychic apparatus defined in Sigmund Freud’s structural model of the psyche; they are the three theoretical constructs in terms of whose activity and interaction our mental life is described.

According to this model of the psyche, the id is the set of uncoordinated instinctual trends; the super-ego plays the critical and moralizing role; and the ego is the organized, realistic part that mediates between the desires of the id and the super-ego.The super-ego can stop one from doing certain things that one’s id may want to do.

I have come to learn that my dreams are the dialogue between the id and super-ego, and mediated by the ego.  Many times, my dreams are conversations I wish to have with someone, my hopes for my future, and outcomes of life events.  I have discovered that my dreams are not premonitions, predictions, or past life events.

In understanding my dreams now, I begin to understand my wishes and desires, although they may not be in my highest as Source would direct me.  I use my dreams to reconcile the directions and explanations from Source, and come to understand why I feel a certain way.  May you find understandings in your dreams.
