Reflecting on Awakening

When Jesus and Buddha spread their teachings, they spoke of unconditional love, empathy, compassion, peace, respect, and doing no harm to others.  They did not speak of intuitive abilities, energetic manipulations, speaking to the dead, or other metaphysical abilities. These intuitive abilities are the side effects of meditation, and raising Kundalini energy, and innate gifts we all possess.  They are not the actual awakening itself.

As I travel on my own spiritual journey, I have seen those in the spiritual community focused almost exclusively on these intuitive abilities, and going astray on their paths.  Some have even gone down a dark path to self destruction and continued suffering.  This is not a judgment of them, but an observation of their plight and refusal to face their own darkness.  This darkness within them also has attracted darkness into their lives as like attracts like.  As an observer, I only feel sadness for their plight and suffering.

What I have found most difficult is integrating the spiritual principals of unconditional love, empathy, compassion, peace, respect, and doing no harm to others into my daily life.  It is easy to speak of these principal in blogs, articles, and conversations. However, living these principals is a whole other thing as I struggle with this every minute of every day.  It is a constant vigilance to follow the path of light and staying on course with every thought, action, and intention.  It is no small feat, but I persevere none-the-less.  May you find your path to light and awakening.
