The Act of Forgiveness

The hardest part of my spiritual journey has been the work on forgiveness. Since giving notice at my job at the college, my staff asked me to leave the office before my last day. This was very hurtful to me as I hired them and fought hard for their positions and their salaries.

My assistant director who I hired and recommended her for the interim director position told me, “it is best for the team if you left.” When I first heard these words, I thought what an ungrateful bunch of people.

However, as I move forward on my spiritual journey, I am told by the Infinite that I must forgive these people in order to leave them behind me. I cannot take them along on my journey forward, and carrying anger or resentment about them will only keep them firmly connected to me.

The only true way to release them, is to forgive them for they know not what they do is what I am told by the Infinite. Once I do this, I will be free to move forward. Now, for the hard work ahead to forgive those who have hurt me. (Copyright 2019 awakening journey with all rights reserved)

    Usually such pain is a pointer to something. It will make you feel hurt and betrayed but it is by looking at ‘how’ it makes you feel. Is it the same action that hurts you from others. A parent or other loved ones treating you in a similar pattern that constantly hurts you in the same way. A rejection of who you are.
    I traced my pattern from my childhood of where I felt my dad didn’t love me, and because I hated the feeling of not being loved I would then bury my partners in love to such a degree that they finally held up their hands and said ‘enough’, your burying me and it is claustrophobic.
    Of course I was very upset, how could they not want to be loved like that, so I then pointed the finger at them saying it was their fault. But underneath it all I was only loving them with my fear, wanting them all to love me ‘my way’ or the highway so that I didn’t have to face that rejection.
    We all do that in our own ways, but underneath it all it is that feeling of not being loved, rejected in some way that always leaves us feeling upset and distressed.
    They are doing you a favour, even if it is only to begin a new path. All roads lead to your heart and the love and happiness we are always seeking.

      Thank you for your insights, and I believe it is true that my feelings of hurt stem from my feeling of rejection by those I love. The lesson here is to understand my own self-worth and self love without the need from others. Most of my relationships are dependencies and are not based in genuine love. I know if I overcome this, my future will be transformed. I already know they are doing me a huge favor by letting me go. That’s why I crossed paths with them for my specific life lesson. I am ready to move foward!
