Trust Your Instincts

As an empath, I have the ability to discern if someone is lying to or hiding something from me.  I also know some of their intentions and reasons, although not all of them.   I can sense their fears, shame, embarrassment, guilt, envy, jealousy, etc.  I also can sense if their intentions are good or harmful to others.  I am able to understand someone within a few minutes of meeting them.  Sometimes, my ego can cloud my judgment, but recently, I have tried to put my ego aside to observe others’ emotions without imposing my own judgments.

Recently, I began volunteering in my community.  I met the director of this program who I really like, but several things I observed indicates that she has multiple sides to her personality that has given me pause to trust her.  She lied to me about receiving an email from me which she contends she has not had time to read, but would be getting back to me.  Why did she need to lie about reading my email?

People lie for all sorts of reasons, such as guilt or embarrassment for being negligent.  She also is a politician of sorts, and needs to appease many people to get her job done, and balance many competing interests. I have concerns about politicians particularly about trusting them.  As I move forward in my volunteer job, I will tread carefully in dealing and allying with her in the future.  More to come ….
