During the first year of my spiritual journey, I spent most of that time overcoming my fears of ego. Before we are able to learn self love, unconditional love, compassion, and living without expectations of outcome, we must overcome our own fears. The ego has a grip on us from our lifetime experiences of pain, hurt, and wounds, reminding us that we may get hurt again.
We must first overcome those fears. How do we do this? It is facing the repressed pain, hurt, and wounds that we have failed to face earlier in our lives. When I finally figured out that I was always running from my fears, I finally stopped running, and began to face them. This is the first step to recovery. My addiction to codependency with others was my coping skill for my fears by hanging onto others with certain conditions that met my needs. Others may do the same with alcohol, drugs, sex, work, or other forms of addiction.
When I finally began facing my fears, and stopped running, I was able to overcome my fears. The Universe will send the same kind of person or situation to us to help us overcome our fears. When we refuse to face them by running, we will only encounter another person or situation of the same kind. This is when we live in a loop in our lives, like a movie playing the same scene over and over again.
Only after confronting my darkest fears was I able to move onto learning self love, unconditional love, compassion, and living without expectations of outcome. I am grateful for my courage to face my darkest fears. ~ Brooke (Copyright 2013 Kundalini Spirit with All Rights Reserved)
