Our egos have minds of their own as they have their desires and dependencies/attachments, want to be right, and want to control others. My observing is that everything I thought I wanted turned out the opposite to what I believed would happen. My ego was the driving force of my fears and consequential running away or what is known as “escape” in psychological terms. Ego is powerful, and most of us don’t even realize that we are being controlled by our egos and not our higher selves. I have heard many speak about their higher selves telling them to do this or that, then they come to realize that it was their egos all along, as I have fallen prey to the same situation.
Now, I just allow things to unfold as they do, and come to accept whatever outcome occurs. I must admit sometimes I am disappointed, but I do not fight this Universal force, and accept and surrender to what is. This is my recent observation. I am beginning to see that just because my ego does not agree with an outcome, it does not mean that outcome is not best or meant for me. My ego may feel rejected, unworthy, abandoned, unloved, but that outcome ultimately will be the best for my life as I have come to understand.
Things happen for a reason, and most of the time, it is to help us learn life lessons, and overcome past emotional pain, hurdles, and problems. As for me, I have decided to stay in a small rural community helping college students with sexual assault trauma. It is a daunting responsibility as I have been the only staff person in my office doing this work. However, I have decided to stay here, and also remain with the man I love, as this was my reason for moving here.
This life that I currently live was not one I could have imagined for myself. However, my inner compass has lead me here to this place, this job, and this man. I am now beginning to understand why these events occurred in my life, and how they are intended to help me overcome my fears, my past childhood trauma, and the problems in my life. May you find healing for your life. (Copyright 2015 Living Wide Awake with All Rights Reserved)
