The Finer Points of Spiritual Practice

Since starting spiritual practice, I have found some parts of spiritual practice confusing and wanted to share what I have learned.  When we practice forgiveness, we do not need to take these people back into our lives. In the past, when I forgave people for hurting me, I also took them back into my life.  You do not need to do this. Forgiveness is simply letting go of hurt, resentment, and blame of another.  Once we forgive them, we also can exclude them from our lives, not out of anger or resentment, but merely because we no longer want to tolerate inappropriate, and unhealthy behaviors in our lives.

Another issue is to live without expectations of outcome, but to continue to meet goals and dreams. We can actually do both.  When we live without expectations of outcome, we merely accept that even when we try our best, we may fail.  It is coming to acceptance of this failure, but to keep trying until we meet our goals and dreams.  We want to succeed, but we may not succeed in the manner we expect of ourselves and others.  It is coming to acceptance that we will have our dreams fulfilled, but we just don’t know exactly how it may take place and who will be part of our dreams.

These issues may appear to conflict with each other on its face, but they are mutually exclusive, and we can do both in our spiritual practice. Hope this clarifies things!  Infinite loving light, Brooke (Copyright 2013 Kundalini Spirit with All Rights Reserved)
